‘She Wants Justice’: X-Men ‘97 Star Teases Rogue’s Season 2 Storyline (2)

X-Men '97 star Lenore Zann teased what fans can expect from Rogue in the highly-anticipated next season of the animated Disney+ revival. Zanna has been voicing the fan-favorite X-Men since the original run of X-Men: The Animated Series, which lasted for five seasons from 1992-1997.

In the middle of X-Men ‘97 Season 1, Rogue faced the agonizing heartbreak of Remy LeBeau/Gambit’s death, who sacrificed himself during the devastating attack on Genosha. For the rest of the season, she showed her grief by doing everything she could do to avenge Remy’s death. Speaking with Screen Rant, Zann confirmed that Rogue’s Season 2 storyline will continue her search for justice. Rogue was last seen at the end of the Season 1 finale, where she gets stuck in Ancient Egypt with Nightcrawler, Professor X, Beast, and Magneto. "I'm not going to completely answer it other than to say there are Easter eggs in there for fans to follow up," Zann said. "In Season 2, I have already recorded Season 2, and I love Rogue's journey. She is continuing on her journey, and she wants justice for Remy, and she won't let anything or anybody stop her."

Despite his surprising exit, Marvel Animation head Brad Winderbaum previously confirmed that they would still follow DeMayo’s blueprint for Season 2. In addition to Zann, the show is also being led by voice actors Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ross Marquand as Professor Charles Xavier, George Buza as Beast, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Gui Agustini as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler, Ross Marquand as Professor X, A.J. LoCascio as Gambit, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, JP Karliak as Morph and more.

"She is continuing on her journey, and she wants justice for Remy, and she won't let anything or anybody stop her."

One of the surprises during the Season 1 finale was the introduction of Marvel villain En Sabah Nur/ Apocalypse, who was portrayed by Oscar Isaac in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse movie. In a previous interview, directors Jake Castorena, Chase Conley and Emi Yonemura teased En Sabah Nur’s role in Season 2, revealing that viewers will get a chance to get to know more about the character, and how he becomes the villain he’s destined to be. "With the X-Men, for better or for worse, all roads usually end up leading to Apocalypse, right?" Castorena said. "What I will say is we do things on purpose. Everything is meticulously done for a reason. For those looking to see where Apocalypse goes with the tattered card in his hand, just have to watch Season 2 to find out."
